Flip-Flop da Flippity-Flop

Oh, happy day.  The sun is shining, the birds are singing and I am not freezing.  Woo hoo!  It has been a long, cold winter, but it is almost time to pack up the winter clothing and bring out the summer wear.  The first thing I am unpacking are my flip-flops.  God, how I love flip-flops.  As far as I’m concerned, they are the only shoes one needs during warm weather.

Think about it.  Flip-flops are so versatile you can wear them with anything; shorts, swimsuits, jeans, skirts, wedding dresses, prom dresses, even pajamas.  Let us not forget, they are the perfect companion to a perfect pedicure. If you are going to spend your hard-earned cash on a pedicure, why cover it up?  You don’t have to…flip-flops!  During the warm weather, the only footwear decision I have to make is which pair to choose.  I have them in a variety of colors and styles.  Yes, they come in styles.  I have them in metallic (blue, gold, green and silver), non-metallic (brown, yellow and black), a pair with gold  flowers, a pair made with ribbon, macramé with beads and a really fancy pair with rhinestones.  What about platform flip-flops, you may be asking?  Don’t be silly, a girl has to draw the fashion line somewhere.

While perfect in almost every way, I do admit they have a downside in certain situations.  For instance, they are not good for walking on uneven surfaces, pine straw or wet leaves. I learned this the hard way.  Case in point, I was walking my dog while wearing my beloved flip-flops, stepped on wet leaves, fell, busted my butt and slid about 50 yards through my front yard.  It was like a ride on a Slip-and-Slide, only a lot less fun and a lot more painful.  However, my husband got a good laugh out of it, so I take that back, there is no downside, because flip-flops make people laugh.  What more could you ask for?
